2024 Device Library Updates

As we get closer to the end of the year, we've activated another update to the Device Library in our web editor. This made me think that a list of everything we've added this year might be a helpful post to make in case you've missed our social media updates.

What is Pirate MIDI's Device Library?

Most MIDI controllable effects pedals, amps, and synthesizers have a set of MIDI commands preset from the factory that are tied to different controls or parameters. Usually you would need to open the user manual, find the page that lists these commands, and then copy the MIDI command into the editor or menu of your MIDI controller. in 2020 - when we started developing our MIDI controllers - we decided that it was a massive waste of time to look those messages up each time, so we decided to undertake the mammoth task of entering them all in by hand.

The 30,000-row database that resulted is what we now refer to as "device library" and has saved our customers hundreds of hours searching for, downloading, and searching through the user manuals for their MIDI-controllable devices.

As new devices are released, or old devices are brought to our attention, we update the database to keep it the largest and best in the world!

So, what did we add this year?

It's been a big year for big releases, and of course there are other big products like the Fender Tone Master Pro which have MIDI, but don't have default assigned MIDI commands. These will still work with PIRATE MIDI controllers, but will need to have MIDI messages added as defined by the user.

If you have any other suggestions for additions to the Device Library, please let us know - there are inevitable more pedals that need adding!

Cheers,

Simon
